Re: Urgently Need Info on Efficiency vs. Speed in Cold Weather

Speed is a big killer, as is turning up the heat too much. The Niro has a "Driver Only" heat setting which can help reduce the amount of power required for heating.

Re: California Doesn’t Have Enough Charging Stations to Hit Its Electric Car Goals

Los Angeles is putting hundreds of ChargePoint chargers on light posts.

Maybe this will allow California to hit their goals.

Re: Seatbelt extenders

I did purchase a seatbelt extender from a different site, however its fit is quite poor too (which is why I'm not linking their site). Apparently the Niro EV has a narrower latch than standard sizes, so they won't fit snugly -- there is some significant wiggle room.

Re: Roof Rack Cross Bars

Thanks for the feedback. It appears the listing on eBay is over and the seller isn't selling ANY other products at all.

That being said, there are a number of cross bars being sold on eBay. In theory, the cross bars for ANY Niro model should work.

Re: Underrated battery

Thanks, Phil. I will make a note of that. I didn't want to stop at the Kia dealership to charge because I wanted to get out and get some food. IIRC, there isn't much within walking distance of the Kia dealership. It helped that my EVGo account was on the one month free (thanks to buying the car and ...

Re: Underrated battery

Sorry for the slow reply! The trip was uneventful. In fact, it felt pretty... normal. My trip was from the Dallas, Texas area to the San Antonio, Texas area. The journey is about 305 miles (about 491 km) one way. There are two logical stopping points: First in Waco, Texas where there is an Electrify...

Underrated battery

I knew the Niro EV had an underrated battery. I've seen reports on the Internet about seeing upwards of 280 miles on a charge. Well, today, in preparation for a "long" journey (275 miles one way), I charged my Niro EV to 100%. I typically charge to 80% for battery longevity. I had to take ...

Seatbelt extenders

Has anyone been successful buying a seatbelt extender? We purchased one from Amazon and it did not latch, even though the buckle fit. We need it not because I'm fat (okay, I am, but not that fat!), but because my daughter's booster seat has difficulty latching in the back seat. I'm getting a short s...

Re: My new Niro EV is my 3rd EV

My thoughts of the Niro EV so far: My former EVs, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV and Nissan LEAF just don't compare to the driving experience in the Niro EV. I do prefer the rear-wheel drive of the i-MiEV, but don't miss the 67 horsepower motor or 16kWh battery. The Niro is about as quiet as the LEAF inside ...
