The Niro phev is Kia's third plug in model and includes the same wonderful features of the hybrid. The phev will also do an estimated total range of more than 900 kilometers when both electric and gas powered engines are working together. The breakdown of the city, hwy and combined driving range is as follows:

Trim Level City Hwy Combined

FE 52 49 50
LX 51 46 49
EX 51 46 49
Touring Graphite 46 40 43
Touring 46 40 43

The 2018Niro has some additional features like adding 5 trim levels. All trim levels have the same engine, however, there is a small difference in the fuel economy. This is mostly due to the weight added by standard features that are added on the higher trim levels. Regardless of the trim level you choose the 2018 Kia Niro has a minimum estimated combined fuel economy of 43 mpg

The Canadian Model is promising to offer better fuel economy when it arrives in Canada sometime in 2018. Ted Lancaster, VP & COO of Kia Canada Inc states "we are expecting the Niro Plug in Hybrid to add another electrifying element to our Canadian linked sometime in 2018". Full Canadian details will be released at a later date. We do know they will include the following:
• All the same feature-rich packaging and driving fun of the hybrid Niro, but with a few PHEV-exclusive touches, such as a subtly-modified front grille insert and surround, hybrid blue exterior accents, available LED headlamps, a charge port door (on left front fender), available 7-inch colour meter cluster with digital tachometer and "ECO/Plug-In" badges
• A full charge can be achieved in approximately 2.5 hours via a 240V (Level 2) charger, and under 9 hours via a 120V (Level 1) charger
• The same six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) as the Niro, which translates to more enjoyable and engaging driving. Drivers can choose from several driving modes, including EV mode, Hybrid mode, (default) Eco mode, or Sport mode for quicker transmission response.
